Jessica had the opportunity to attend a business class this week. It was a two day class put on by The Venture Center, Ignite Business Success and UW-Fond du Lac Extension. Unfortunately, I - Beth, had to go to my full time job :( But that is one of the best things about have a business with a partner. We can split up the work and focus on what we each are good at as individuals and bring that back to one another. If one of us can go to these courses and bring all the information and tools back to the other, the business can only gain. We are striving to keep moving forward and learn more about being entrepreneurs not just photographers. We want to give our customers the best we can in all avenues of SLS Photography. Lets hear what Jessica had to say about her experience:
"Wow! That is the first thing that comes to mind when I recap the last two days. I had the privilege this last week to learn with and meet some pretty great people. Business owners and entrepreneurs in all stages of their business. We were able to have this experience thanks to the great people from The Venture Center, Ignite Business Success and UW- FDL Extension.
The workshop was all about Business Model. In the class we all designed our own business models using the 9 building blocks.
A business model is great tool used to understand where your business is at and where you want to be in the future. We were able to present our business models and we were given feedback from everyone. I found this to be very useful, and have so many great ideas that I can’t wait to implement into SLS.
Our instructor Amy Pietch from the Venture Center is an incredible person. Amy has a passion for what she does and it shows with how inspirational she is. I first met Amy while taking the E-seed business class through the Fox Valley Technical College and the Venture Center. I would recommend this class to anyone wanting to start a business. It is incredible value for the time spent with these instructors and the materials that are giving to us. But the relationships, networking and personal experiences shared with other students in the class is worth more than you can imagine."
